Under normal driving, the system remains adequately clamped. But when subjected to higher torque loads, rapid RPM changes, repeated downshifts, or increased power levels from tuning, the factory crank bolt can begin to walk loose, causing the timing components to rotate out of alignment, causing the engine to fall out of mechanical timing.
